starting lots but finishing little...

Is this happening to you as well? I've been in and out of the studio for the past few days but am just not up to getting anything finished. So I find myself scouring newspapers and magazines for text, laying out images and then reconfiguring them after the wind whips in the window and bits and pieces of paper take flight. Then I get distracted by a new idea and start all over. So I have a small group of paintings forming but I can't see how they will all come together yet (that's just the way it is sometimes). My plan is to keep putting things together and taking them apart until they make sense. Where are you finding inspiration these days?

Lately my inspiration comes from old craftmanship. With old I mean old, early bronze age. The things I look at is helleristninger.

I love seeing your in progress work and I'm now fascinated by the idea of your online class you mentioned a few posts back. Inspiration right now is coming from my sketchbook - just stuff I've been wanting to do for ages.

Lately it has been books and blogs, books and blogs. Like an addict I am hooked on words. Beautiful pictures are like a major bonus for me.

p.s. am really hoping to be able to join your class as well! always waiting to find a class I can take in person but has not worked out as of yet. online is definitely the next best thing!
Hope it doesn't start in Nov. as that's when I will be attempting NaNoWriMo again!

Well, nothing can be finished unless something has been started. Its great that you have so many things going on.

Normally, I get inspired by two or three bits and pieces being places next to each other. That's not working so well for me lately.

This is going to be sweet! Inspiration... I'm liking absurd things these days. Like... everyday happenings but with an unexpected twist.

i just adore seeing anyones, work in progress..it continues to fascinate me.
most of us know about this, inspiration...when it's there, when it seems to dry up a bit. personally, as of yesterday, i've started listening to what happens in my every day encounters, especially the ones that make me chuckle...thinking...hmmm, a painting perhaps??

Elizabeth, I actually have a photo series titled 'fits and starts"....this title defines my everyday. one friend told me to limit my materials to 3 things...put the words in a box and create a series of 12 pieces with just those 3 things...it helps. now if I can just do something about the 3 kids, the dog and the traveling husband. Hey...those are 3 things right? Can I put them in a box?
