Things we bury (that grow anyways)

The idea for these subterranean jars has been in the back of my mind for a few months...
I love the  idea of emotions in jars on a shelf, buried underground, or cast out to sea.  I see many more jars in my future....

What are you up to this Tuesday evening?

I love this piece; always love the paintings, but I love the sentiment with this one, and that you have something beautiful growing out of these buried things.
Take care, Tara Thayer

I really like this one and love the idea of bottled up feelings on a shelf! It also makes me think of spring coming :)
What am I up to? Trying to decide if I should hand quilt for awhile... work on my ACEOs or put the kids in the bathtub :)

Tara-thank you...most of my older pieces had a story but over the winter i've been playing more with color and text. always nice to meet a new friend!
Jamie-i know that's not true!
Brenda-maybe you can do a bit of #1 or #2 if you add some toys to the tub (sometimes I get 1/2 an hour out of tub time...)
Janice-sounds perfect...

i like that idea too beth, as if the emotions we cast away be/c we don't like them perhaps, can still bring fruit.
i admire your use of encaustic!

Tuesday evening.......I'm working on a new piece. I've been thinking of Ahab's Wife for quite some time now. So I've started a painting.....don't know where it will go but I'm hoping Ahab's Wife will be there somewhere....we'll see.

I love those jars. So much is happening beneath the surface.....what we see isn't always what is really there.......hmmmmm....lots to think about with that one !

i really love all this new work of yours...very inspiring. i've always had a fetish for text in my paintings, and i'm so attracted to it in yours. and such a nice use of color, the stripes are very provocative in the single text paintings and i like them contrasted with the linear etched curviness in "things we bury".
