making and baking...

Happy Saturday!  Even though the kids had back to back snow days this week Saturday just feels different...more relaxed.  I spent some time in the studio today finishing up "Love 15 Ways".
I know, yellow, can you believe it?  When the cadmium yellow deep  started calling to me from the shelf I ignored.  But then I couldn't stop thinking about it's warm jewel tone and deep egg yolk color...so I tried it and loved it.  I am really enjoying these word quilts and plan to continue playing with type, tissue and color.  The second painting I completed is from my "On the Ball" series and I believe she will be named (my life is a circus).
The other two photos are yummy whole wheat blueberry muffins which didn't stand a chance with 3 kiddos in the house!  My parents come into town tomorrow to stay with the kids while my man and I spend a few days in the city exploring The Art Institute, skating at Millenium Park, walking hand in hand and enjoying good food, wine and conversation.  See you Tuesday!

For someone like me (and like you) who doesn't usually gravitate to yellow, this is the perfect answer. . . the warm color of the sun to surround expressions of love, love, love. This is charming, as is your girl on the beach ball. I envy you being able to wander at the Art Institute. It brings back memories of my ex-husband's mother, who I dearly loved, as she began art classes there when she retired from the Illinois Central Railroad. I spent a lovely three weeks with her, visiting galleries and chateaux in France, the year before her death.

Clockwise from top left-- Yum, Yum, Yum, YUM!

I love these!! I love that yellow and think it works perfectly with the painting! And it makes me want to eat it, just like the muffins (which is a good thing!)

I love the yellow, I am not a yellow girl either but it is so yellowy yellow.

I hope you have a wonderful time away with your man.

I am a yellow lover. Probably because there is not much sun this time of year. That said I like this painting a lot. It feels very layered with meaning...

How did you put those four photos together in that nice little collage?

Have a wonderful trip.
