What an awesomely beautiful idea to try and wrap your head around. That is my favorite line from Elizabeth Alexander's inaugural poem which was both accessible and memorable. I spent most of the day glued to the tele (knitting in hand) watching the days' events unfold and went to bed with my heart smiling. These two little paintings were inspired by Michelle and Sasha Obama's fabulous attire! Tomorrow I hope to share a bit more work and to update my shop...

I read that poem about turning 10 it brought tears to my eyes :) What memorable and celebratory works these are, very cool and makes them quite the keepsake with the meaning behind them. That poem from yesterday was beautiful. Take care
I really love the colour in the second one....there is just something about it........hope you had a wonderful time in the city (I miss being there, as I am a chicago girl at heart!) and thanks for the well wishes. I should be back to my silly old self tomorrow :)
The firts lady's dress colour was such a good choice, one you don't forget easily. It's a great idea to make it into a painting, i like it! The television was my favorite spot on the 20 as well. I must say i felt for Michelle O, sometimes you could get a glimse of some stange faces she made, must ahve been the cold and the not so warm, but beautiful outfit she wore...
I too love these colours you have used and the words from the poem go so nicely together.
I really enjoyed Elizabeth Alexander's poem. I'm so pleased poetry was given the status:) I felt nervous for her reading to so many..... It was a special day here for us in the UK, as we watched on and I certainly shed more than one tear....

I loved that poem too. I think having a poet read original work is such a lovely moment in the ceremony. I was thinking back to clips of Robert Frost reading at JFK's ceremony...it's nice to have beautiful words to keep from such a special day!
