Beware of the heat gun!

All of these glamour and party girls will be on their best behavior so they don't share the fate of the nudes/windows/mountains/doors....
Seriously, the painting from the last post was just not working for me and so it has been "reworked".  As I fired up the heat gun and started scraping back the painting I really did feel like all these girls were watching in horror as the nude figures melted away.....

Ah now I see how you have re-worked this - really inspiring how you were able to do this. Thank you for your comments on my blog recently, much appreciated and mean a lot to me. I'm happy to connect with you.

it's really more like i "unworked it"...today it will become something new. letting go of a piece can be liberating sometimes...

i know what you mean....many a painting had been "heat gunned" over here..(much to my engineer husband's disbelief)....it's very freeing, especially when it's just not working :)

It's nice to know you can have a 'do-over' in most mediums... with oils, I used to 'wipe it'. Now, with acrylics I 'gesso over it'. There's nothing like a clean start. Now are you keeping the same theme or will it be an entirely new painting?

oh! i'm sad to see your last piece gone...but i've had that happen before too. I had saved your last post in my bloglines to come back to and comment telling you how it was such a strong piece and how i loved the title! But I was too late. that balance thing is getting in the way of my intentions. :)

I'm working on a painting today that I had completely covered up with white about a year ago! Sometimes it's nice to let go and start over.

that made me laugh... those poor girls watching the horror scene. I had the same kind of thoughts when I had to scrap off some of my girls faces and wondered what the others thought as they were in line waiting for their turn.
