The big picture...

Good Morning and welcome to my new studio.  If you were closer I'd invite you over for a cup of tea and ask you to make the 1st mark on my enormously black (and blank) chalkboard wall.  Last week, in the midst of finishing up the Nahcotta Paintings I decided to paint my studio (and the kitchen and the dining room).  Why I was moved  to start these projects in the middle of a deadline week is beyond me but that seems to be  how a diy remodel gets done.  Tiny twisters of energy and enthusiasm which move the whole house project forward.  I was long over the pale pink walls sponge painted with white and have been longing for a fresh, clean space to work.  I painted three of the walls and the ceiling with two coats of 'Falling Snow' which is a soft white and then painted the big wall with 4 coats of black chalkboard paint which has been curing for the past few days.  I cover my work table with brown kraft paper and make sketches, jot ideas and titles down as I work and am so excited to have this large vertical space to brainstorm on too. C hung my old light and next weekend he will install the hood vent and hang some shelves to complete the room.  In the meantime, I am prepping two 24"x24" boards and two 30"x30" boards to start some large abstract paintings that I've been thinking about for awhile.  I'm not sure if they will come together quickly or slowly or even at all but it's time to stretch myself a bit and go with another tiny twister of energy and enthusiam.  Hope your Monday feels full of new beginnings too : )
