Lost in a Dream (my soul stands ajar)

I finished up this painting today and am really happy with the dreamlike quality I was able to achieve (have i mentioned how much i love encaustics?).  Deanna Wood did a series of bird paintings in which she talked about birds hearing our secrets and flying away with them.  Now, whenever I see (or hear) one of the hundreds of crows or ravens in my new city I think of that (and wonder).   The wheel, the woman, the numbers and the blackbird stringing random objects together to create meaning of chaos....lost in a dream.

i love this painting. something is happening with your work. it has been wonderful since i have been reading your blog, but it seems to be getting rich, and full of depth. hope this makes sense...

I like this painting Beth and the direction that you're going in.

I feel the same way about crows and birds. Crows have always been a powerful symbol for me in my work. Dream creatures. Messengers. The outcasts. My regular bird imagery have different meaning, much lighter. :)

In addition to your created piece, as a writer, I also like what you've titled the post. I'm a believer in stating/documenting one's feelings (be it to share with others, or one's self) -- and transitions in one's life certainly cause the soul to take notice.

I just found your blog via Bridgette. Love your work. I read it and see so many of the same things that I feel. I have a "thing" for crows too, and the number 8. AND, I am a Taurus and live in Calif. I will be following more now that I have found you. And Vermont, especially Burlington??? We wandered through Vermont and happened to find Burlington and were blown away! We were on our way to N. Hampshire for a week.
