This new encaustic painting is the first in a series entitled "Things I Saw From The Plane". It's so amazing to travel across the country by plane and witness the amazing diversity below. Being on four flights in the past two weeks I've had lots of time to stare out the window and sketch the cool shapes that make up family farms, winding rivers snaking their way across endless expanses of land and snow capped peaks on majestic mountain ranges. There has also been extra time for reading, knitting and hanging out with the kids. As crazy as things are right now there is also this bubble of togetherness that we are all living inside here (working through issues, getting things done and being there for each other). It's actually been a really great week. Thanks for stopping in and I wish you all a relaxing sunday evening-cheers!

Welcome home, Beth. Your photo montage of the trip was great, but I'm amazed at this piece; how you took something most people sleep through and turned it into a beautiful work. And I can see what you mean about the "bubble" you are in with your family, now. Really nice. Take care, tara
oh how great......I did something similar when we moved to Canada...I just couldn't stop staring at all the different lines and juxtaposing squares and rectangles that seemed to just fill the whole landscape (lucious was didn't quite get my need to fill an entire roll of film on them!)...I really like this one :)
hi, beth! when we see those hay bales on road trips, i think of giant toasted marshmallows! i like your take on them. xo
this is so beautiful. i remember seeing laurie anderson's "oh superman" in concert in the 80's and she had a piece about time zones. it was so abstract and so personal at the same time, like this painting. thanks for the comment on my blog, i commented back.
What a fun piece!
This is lovely Beth! Looking forward to seeing what else you "saw from the plane":):)
