My Nemesis...

GOLD LEAF!
It's shiny, sparkly allure adds that special something (it's the must have accessory of glamour girls and party girls) but it is soooo challenging to work with.  It flits and flies around, sticks to my waxy hands and disappears with a gentle wipe of linseed oil.  This is a bit of what I've been up to the past few days.  All of the bitties with stripes or words are only 2.5"x3.5" ( I'm loving the new downsized block) and all of the Glamour and Party Girls have golden hearts in honor of Valentines Day.  I've got lots more in the works here and will post again tomorrow but right now my little guy is calling....have a great night!

I love the little bittie size of these!!! they are just too cute.

I have had dealings with gold leaf before, a mind of its own that stuff. It allures you with its sparkle and then frustrates the pants off you.

hope you have a good weekend, we have a holiday tomorrow (firday) it is New Zealand day or sometimes called Waitangi day.

hmmm...I think there is going to be a need for a picnik intervention soon (oh wait....didn't I just do that on my last few posts as well?)
they look really good, even better if one made it as a trade :)

Oh how I love this one !!!!!

I love gold leaf. I'm not so picky with it so can't say I feel frustration when using it.....but then what I do is totally different....what you do is pure magic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've worked with metal leaf in my mixed media pieces and haven't had that problem. Is your work space close to heating vents?

hi there...i think it's the fact that i created 120 super tiny circles and needed to put a teeny-tiny bit of gold leaf into each one....that and 4 of my knuckles are cracked and bleeding from the cold weather, dry heat (in the house) and washing my hands a gazillion times a day...

i like imitation gold leaf, so much easier than real gold, a bit heavier so it doesn't blow around the same.
