mystery painting...
OK...I'm going to start off by admitting that there is nooo chance that I will finish all of the knitting projects from my last post! I started a sweater for myself but it is already in a basket under a chair (with the other 5 unfinished garments). My yarn is very jealous of my wax.
Today I managed to start on a painting that came to me last night....can you tell what it is? I am very excited about this piece and hope to work on it a bit more this evening (after I finish making my middle son's tree costume....). Have a lovely evening!

Their Hearts Were Light....
The sky was blue and the air was crisp when these women began to drift upwards. They had encouraged each other and fed their souls with all life has to offer. Laughter, tears, friendship and understanding as well as life's mystery and beauty filled their hearts like air fills a balloon and then one day it just happened...and it was good.

unfinished business....
I'm off to Michigan for the weekend to celebrate my daughter's 12th birthday with family....my how the time flies! I didn't complete any pieces this week and I'm kind of sad to be leaving my studio for these few days...all these pieces are so close to being done but it looks like they'll have to wait until Sunday evening.
The second photo also contains many unfinished pieces which will be keeping my hands busy during my hours in the car. Again most of these items are soooo close to being done (one only needs it's seams sewn up!) but I find myself spending every free moment in my studio these days. The oldest of these projects is a sweater for Chuck started 3 years ago as a 10th anniversary gift (ummm...it's a little late) and the newest (a sweater for moi) is being started today. I am secretly hoping to finish all of these projects by Christmas (even Chuck's sweater shhh...). Where would we be without wishful thinking?
Have a great weekend!

Prep....
Twenty-three down and twenty-two to go....
I spent this evening sitting outside fine sanding these lovely maple blocks which are destined to become glamour and party girls. Since my painting spree last week I haven't been back in the studio so I decided to get ready for a rainy monday by prepping these blocks. Today was the quintessential autumn day and after a long walk on the beach I got down to work while the kids played in the yard. Some of these girls will find their way to my etsy shop and some will be shipped off to a show in New York in early December. I really enjoy painting these girls and am looking forward to getting started on them tomorrow.
Later this week I will add a print of my painting "Heart of Gold" to my etsy shop with $10.00 from every sale going to help Will Boyd. It's been such an amazing experience to have my small gesture so appreciated and I look forward to being able to continue contributing to Will's fund. I'm thinking about making prints of one or two other paintings as well...what do you think?
Cheers!

What's your story?
We all live a story that we are reading and writing simultaneously. Home is the place where we make sense of all the pages...the observations, encounters and experiences. "Once Upon a Time" represents 9 different beginnings, middles, endings and lots of sweet dreams....
"Dreaming Under 90 Stars (about electrification)" also pictured above is pretty self explanatory...cars, stars and the grid.
These two paintings plus a few others will be in my etsy shop tomorrow afternoon.
Now, back to the debate!

Big ideas (little time)
I woke up at 5 am with a few new ideas so i promptly crept downstairs to sketch them onto my studio table ( my mind isn't what it used to be!). I was so excited about starting on these new pieces that I spent the afternoon clipping my newsprint and laying things out for all 5 paintings.
( there is a third small "puppet" but she was a little camera shy...)
Anyways, I'm looking forward to finishing these up over the next few days and adding them to my shop along with a few of my other recent works which have been patiently awaiting frames.
I hope everyone had a beautiful and inspiring weekend!

Party Girls and Glamour Girls...
Who was I kidding...I'm way more Party Girl than Glamour Girl! These little mavens are holding golden stars for secret wishes and golden hearts filled with love, patience, kindness and forgiveness....what more could one ask for?
My little etsy shop has had a busy few days and I need to heat up my palette and get to work!
Happy Saturday!

three crowns and a party hat...
These four little ladies are coming along nicely but I have to put them away for the day (they still need a top coat of beeswax and some incising filled in with oil paint). I'm hoping to finish them up tomorrow afternoon and get them into the shop....
My last post "connections" led to many new ones and I want to thank all of you who posted comments or convo'd me. My small gesture made a small difference and my heart is smiling.

The Awakening...
The moment before the awakening is quiet and there is a sense of calm which will be unparalleled for months to come. Once our spirit is stirred it hums with energy and a sense of purpose. This idea of an awakening resonates very deeply in me right now as I become more involved in a creative and supportive community of encaustic artists whose beautiful work can be seen on beeswax.com.

WIP....(again)
Once again I find myself only able to share a WIP...
I had every intention of painting a lot today but it didn't quite work out that way. I've got a solid start with this piece and hope to continue work on it in the morning. This painting includes repetition and newsprint but is a bit more disheveled than my last few....I'm only 50% sure where this is going...
