Food for thought...

This Jamie Oliver salad is one of the best things I've made recently.   I skipped the parboiling and used the higher temp roasting method for the carrots in this very similar ABC Kitchen recipe to simplify the prep and had to use oj in place of the halved orange/juice and it was delish.  I like the mix of seeds in the JO version and added extra greens to turn it into a meal. It was minimal effort that turned a weekday lunch into a moment to slow down mid-day and truly recharge.
  What's the best thing you've made/eaten lately?

Behind the scenes and just plain behind...

Hello there!  The past few weeks we've been in a theatre bubble around here with two kids and then all three kids in back to back productions (Moon Over Buffalo & Macbeth).  C helped build sets, I thrifted and made props and sewed too many kilts to count and all five of us all had a wicked-sneeze-yourself-silly-stuffed-up-nose-sore-throat-kind-of-cold last week.  Dinner has been eaten at 4pm for far too many nights and there have been way too many trips back and forth to rehearsals and performances.  There is still one more small production with one child in it before the school year concludes and then we will be at the one year mark in our new home.  There is more to say on that subject, but not today.  Today I just wanted to get back here and share a bit of color that has been on my studio table waiting patiently to be put together and to say hi & that I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

One Melody Made Her Heart Sing

One Melody Made Her Heart Sing
(stories and birdsongs filled her dreams)

I've lost myself in the garden over these past few weeks.  There is so much joy to be found in a place that stays the same in so many ways and yet is so completely different from year to year. The beds have now been weeded and tilled, seeds and some young plants have been put in and the rest will go in over the weekend. There is so much optimism and promise in the spring garden that it is easy to get lost in the possibility and the beauty and the birdsongs.
