(work in progress)
No matter how lightly you pack your baggage still weighs you down sometimes(when you least expect it). This week I've been feeling the weight of the grey skies and uncertainty. I've whittled away too many hours this week on things that just haven't turned out as expected. The vest from Monday's post is now a ball of yarn again, there was a meal which just wasn't worth the effort and some experiments with crochet that confirmed my love of knitting. All of this busywork was keeping me out of the studio, out of my head, out of dealing with things. And so this morning bright and early I was in the studio opening those bags again. I started visualizing the things we carry like kites for grown ups. I like the idea that we are tethered to things, feelings, ideas that can weigh us down or lift us up on any given day. I think perspective is my new Mantra. And so on this blustery Friday I have packed up the frustrations of the week, let out a long line and sent that bag off into the grey skies.
